Jetted tubs offer a rejuvenating way to unwind after a long day, but they require occasional maintenance. One of the most essential tasks you can do is clean the jets on your hot tub to eliminate dirt and debris buildup.

Cleaning your jets can be a simple task, but it’s best to consult the manufacturer’s instructions prior to beginning any cleaning process. Doing this will guarantee that you use the appropriate cleaner for your tub and avoid damaging any parts of it during the procedure.

1. Vinegar and Hot Water

Vinegar is an effective solution to get rid of buildup in your bathtub that’s safe for the environment too. Simply add two cups of white vinegar to your water, then run your jets on high for several cycles.

2. Bleach and Hot Water

If your tub has mold or mildew buildup, add 1/2 cup of bleach to the water along with a few teaspoons of liquid dishwashing detergent. Be sure to check your tub’s instructions before adding bleach – some manufacturers don’t advise this step.

3. Biofilm Remover

If your jetted tub has developed a lot of gunk, using a special product to clean its pipes and plumbing can be beneficial. These cleaners are made specifically to break up bacteria, mold, mildew and other gunk that collects inside of tub’s pipes.

4. Baking Soda and Hot Water

If the nozzle trim on your jets has become caked with grime, baking soda can help clean it. Simply sprinkle some over the nozzle trim, turn off your jets, and give the area a good scrub with an old toothbrush or small bottle brush.

5. Hydrogen peroxide and baking soda

If there are stubborn stains on the nozzle trims of your tub, mixing two parts baking soda with one part hydrogen peroxide will help loosen any scum or grime on the surface of the nozzle trim. Spread this paste over any stains then leave it sit for around 30 minutes before scrubbing off.

6. Filter and Air Intake

If your bathtub has a filter that can be taken apart and cleaned, be sure to adhere to the instructions in your manual for doing this. Doing this will guarantee that your filter works properly and doesn’t affect the water pressure in your jetted tub.

7. Your tub’s Rim

You can quickly and easily clean the rim of your bathtub using hot water, a sponge, and microfiber cloth. This will remove scum from the surface and restore it to new.

8. A Clean Tub

Once all the above steps have been completed, be sure to rinse your tub and wipe down its rim in order to prevent scum from collecting again. This will help ensure a thorough clean.

9. Jet Cleaning Tools

Depending on your model, you may have to remove the nozzle trim in order to access the jets. You can also use a brush or floss for thorough cleaning of these areas.
